Goal

How to remove a plan type from an application that has already been created with two Plan types?

Solution

As specified in the 11.1.2 Admin guide Page 236, you cannot change the name or number of plan types once created

Extract of the admin guide Page 236:
Specifying Plan Types
Specify one to three plan types for the application. A separate Essbase database is created for
each plan type. You cannot change the name or number of plan types after creating an
application.

The following workaround may work on a newly created application before webforms, business rules, menus and other items are created.

It has to be emphasized that the solution below is a guideline may work for you subject to appropriate testing and backups.

Workaround:
- Stop the Planning Service
- Connect to the Planning application database
- Edit the table HSP_PLAN_TYPE and delete the desired plan type
- Delete the plan type from the Essbase application via EAS console
- Export the data from the application in Essbase and backup the calc scripts and rule files ect... (as a the database will be recreated via Planning)
- Start the planning service and login to the application
- Go to Administration -> Manage database and do a create to recreate the outline in Essbase
- Re import the data, the calc scripts, rule files and all other items

Note: Make sure that you do appropriate backups before carrying out procedure.
