Symptoms

When only Essbase Integration Services (EIS) 11.1.2 is installed and when trying to configure EIS, the option "Apply Maintenance Release" in EPM System Configurator is greyed out when performing an upgrade of EIS 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1.

Cause

This is working as designed. 

In the EPM System Configurator, the minimum components like "Common Tasks" for version 11.1.2.0 need to be configured in order to apply the "Maintenance Release" successfully. 

If not, the option "Apply Maintenance Release" in the EPM System Configurator will remain greyed out. 

Solution

1) Launch Hyperion configuration tool.
2) Configure all options under "Hyperion Foundation".
3) After successful configuration, launch the Install tool for 11.1.2.1.
4) The Maintenance release option will be enabled.
