Symptoms

When reconfiguring the Shared Services database, (in the case where the RDBMS password has changed), the database configuration screen does not come up.  

Cause

This is caused by using a different Windows userid using the configurator than the Windows userid that had initially installed/configured Shared Services.


Solution

To run the configuration with a different Windows userid, copy the .oracle.products file from the user folder who had installed Shared Services before to the new Windows userid.  For example:

Copy:

C:\Documents and Settings\<initial_user_id>\.oracle.products 

To:

C:\Documents and Settings\<new userid>\.oracle.products
