Goal
Moving/copying a Hyperion Enterprise application from one server or location to another.
Solution
A Hyperion Enterprise File-based application can be moved to another server/location using the following steps:
1. Copy application directory and all subdirectories and related files including:
<Application>.EXA, <Application>.INI, <Application>.LOK, <Application>.USE, DATA, INBOX, OUTBOX, REPORT.
2. Update the APP_PATH= line in the <Application>.INI on the new server to point to the new UNC and directory location on new server/location.
3. Launch Enterprise on the new server and select <Add Application> and browse out to the directory containing the <Application>.EXA.
4. From the main Enterprise desktop, set all 6 Points Of View then exit the application.
This will write the application path and Point of view to the C:\WINNT\HYPENT.INI file on the new server.
NOTE: If users are in application during the copy process or certain Hyperion Services are running, you may get a sharing violation and will not be able to copy files or files will copy but application on new server will not be usable.
This is really a nice and informative, containing all information and also has a great impact on the new technology. Thanks for sharing it, DevsData
