Purpose

The purpose here is to answer common questions regarding the Financial Reporting Print Server

Questions and Answers

In which location should the Financial Reporting Print server 11.1.2.1 component be installed?

The Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.2.1 component should be installed separately from the Oracle home directory, where the EPM System 11.1.2.1 product suite has been installed. Most of EPM System 11.1.2.1 is installed under the Middleware folder (e.g., C:\Oracle\Middleware...), but in order for the Financial Reporting Print Server to be able to access the relevant libraries, it should be installed under a separate subfolder (e.g. C:\Oracle\FinancialReportingStudio).

Is it possible to install the 32-bit Financial Reporting Print Server on Windows 64-bit operating system?

Yes, you can install the Financial Reporting Print server (32-bit) on a 64-bit operating system

How to configure the Financial Reporting Print Server?

1. Navigate to FinancialReportingStudio_Installation_Location/products/financialreporting/install/bin and open FRSetupPrintServer.properties in a text editor.

Specify the Financial Reporting Server URL and administrator credentials used to register the Financial Reporting Print Server:

FRWebServer=http://server:port
(specify the same Server URL used when connecting from Financial Reporting studio)

AdminUser=userName

AdminPassword= password

2. Navigate to FinancialReportingStudioInstallationLocation/products/financialreporting/install/bin/ and run the following command:

FRSetupPrintServer.cmd to configure and register the Print Server.

3. Ensure that the Financial Reporting Print Server service has been created and started. You might have to start it manually the first time.

Why has the  Financial Reporting Print Service not been created?

I have installed the Financial Reporting Studio and edited the FRSetupPrintServer.properties file with the Financial Reporting Web Server information and credentials. The FRSetupPrintServer.cmd command completes but the Financial Reporting Print Service has not been created.

The FRSetupPrintServer.cmd command is being run from the wrong location:
Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\financialreporting\install\bin\FRSetupPrintServer.cmd

Instead run the FRSetupPrintServer.cmd file from the Financial Reporting Studio location e.g:
Oracle\FinancialReportingStudio\products\financialreporting\install\bin\FRSetupPrintServer.cmd

If you have installed the Financial Reporting Studio and Financial Reporting Print Server under Middleware instead of the default location (as shown above), uninstall these components then re-install them to the default folder.

Where are the start and stop scripts for Financial Reporting Print Service 11.1.2.1 ?

There are no start and stop scripts for the Financial Reporting Print Service in the Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\bin folder. All other EPM services have scripts stored here.

The Financial Reporting Print Server is recommended to be installed on a separate machine from the rest of Financial Reporting, the start and stop scripts for Financial Reporting Print Service were intentionally discontinued.

As per unpublished Bug 12431736, these scripts will return in 11.1.2.2.

Where can I find the Financial Reporting Print Server Configuration log to troubleshoot issues?

This is found in the ..\Financial Reporting Studio\products\financialreporting\install\logs
e.g. frprint-config--H##.M#.S##.log.

Why do I get an error on running the FRSetupPrintServer.cmd?

"Unable to locate tools.jar. Expected to find it in E:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\EPMSYS~1\c
ommon\JRE\Sun\1.6.0\lib\tools.jar

Please check E:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\EPMSYS~1\products\FINANC~2\install\logs\frprint-
config--H14.M20.S22.log for more detail."
Run the FRSetupPrintServer.cmd file from the Financial Reporting Studio location.
Oracle\FinancialReportingStudio\products\financialreporting\install\bin\FRSetupPrintServer.cmd

If you have installed the Financial Reporting Studio and Financial Reporting Print Server under Middleware instead of the default location, uninstall these components then re-install them to the default folder.

Why do I receive an error [java] Java Result: -1 configuring the Financial Reporting Print Server?

Running the FRSetupPrintServer.cmd it fails to create the Hyperion Financial Reporting - Print Service

[java] Java Result: -1

The AdminUser and AdminPassword have been entered incorrectly in the FRSetupPrintServer.properties

11.1.2 Unable to Create FR Print Server Error "Unable to Authenticate User" (Doc ID 1435812.1)

Why am I unable to Print Preview in the Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.2.1 on the Financial Reporting Server machine ?

You've signed into Financial Reporting Studio, which is installed on a Financial Reporting Server machine. When you try to run a Print Preview of a report, there is no response or error. When the same task is performed on the machine logged onto Windows with local administrator rights, the Print Preview completes. On other client machines where FR Studio is installed, any user can successfully generate a Print Preview.

The issue is caused by a user access limtation within Windows. On the affected server, if the non-Windows-admin user navigates in Windows Explorer to the FR Studio's bin folder (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\FinancialReportingStudio\products\financialreporting\bin) and double-clicks the HRPrinting.exe file, a warning appears: "Violation of the Group Policy".

A Windows administrator needs to grant the affected user(s) access to the FR Studio bin folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\FinancialReportingStudio\products\financialreporting\bin), or more specifically the HRPrinting.exe file.

Why does the FRSetupPrintServer.cmd Script fail to create the Financial Reporting Print Service in an SSL environmen?

You're running the FRSetupPrintServer.cmd but it does not create Financial Reporting Print Service in the Windows Services panel.
The HRPrinter1, HRPrinter2, HRPrinter3, HRPrinter4 and HRPrinter5 queues aren't created either (in Windows Printers and Faxes).

You see the error "Unable to authenticate user" in <FinancialReportingStudio_Home>\products\financialreporting\install\logs\frprint-config--H##.M#.S##.log file.

In the <FinancialReportingStudio_home>\install\bin\FRSetupPrintServer.properties file, the default parameter "FRWebServer=http://server:port" has been changed to use an SSL port as follows.

FRWebServer=https://server:SSL_port#

To rectify you need to copy and paste your SSL certificate to the keystore delivered with the Financial Reporting Studio installation in <FinancialReportingStudio_home>\common\JRE\Sun\1.6.0\lib\security folder.
