Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When creating a new Business rule in EAS (Essbase Administration Services) Console, you are unable to select the Planning servers.  They are not displayed as shown below in the screen shot.

Cause

The HBRServer.properties (Planning properties file) is missing and does not exist under the Planning web application deployment located at  $HYPERION_HOME/deployments/WebLogic9/servers/HyperionPlanning/web-inf\classes

Note: The HBRServer.properties contains up-to-date connection information for the EAS/AAS relational database. The HBR.catalog= parameter should contain the name of the database.

Solution

Apply these steps to resolve this issue:
1. Go to the Essbase Administration Services Server machine file system.
2. Copy the HBRServer.properties file from the EAS/AAS server directory located at this path:
$HYPERION_HOME\AnalyticsAdministrationServices\

3. Place it in the Directory as the Planning properties file under the Planning web application deployment.
$HYPERION_HOME/deployments/<WebAppServer>/servers/HyperionPlanning/web-inf\classes

4. Stop the EAS service, Planning service, and the RMIRegistry service.
Note: Restarting the services purges the EAS.HBRPLUGIN table so it is necessary to log into Planning after a restart to make the locations visible in the EAS console.

5. Start all three services again.

6. Log into your application(s) in Planning web.
Note: you need to log into every application once, in order to make the locations available in EAS/AAS. It does not matter what user you log in with. Once you have logged in, you can log out again.

7. Check the HBRPLUGINDATA table in the EAS repository database in your Database server. Confirm that a record was created.

8. Log into the EAS console as an EAS administrator(e.g. “admin”) and refresh users from the "Administration" node under "Business Rules" (right-click - > Refresh User List).

9. The Planning Servers should be visible under the Planning node in the Business Rule Editor
